|President of NSI named Businessperson of the Year.|
Sonal Shah, president of Northwest Software in Beaverton, has been named Oregonís Small Businessperson of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. This honor allows Shah to represent Oregon for the National Small Businessperson of the Year award.
Oregon also had five Regional award winners, which were selected from businesses throughout the Northwest. The SBA will present its 2002 "Salute To Small Business" awards at a dinner on May 17 at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Portland.

Oregon and Regional Young Entrepreneur of the Year: Adam Stites, president of Paintball Online, Tualatin.
Oregon and Regional Small Business Journalist of the Year: Jennifer Dirks, owner of The Writers Group, Portland.
Oregon and Regional Home-based Business Advocate of the Year: Jack Rubinger, owner of Jack Rubinger Media Relations, Beaverton.
Oregon and Regional Veteran Small Business Advocate of the Year: Richard A. Dalton, employment representative, Oregon Employment Department, State of Oregon, Newport.
Oregon Woman in Business Advocate of the Year: Marcia F. Soliz, director, Workforce Development Department, Confederated Tribes Of Warm Springs, Warm Springs.
Oregon Minority Small Business Advocate of the Year: Brad Robertson, director, Business Outreach Program, Portland State University, Portland.
Oregon Financial Services Advocate of the Year: Jon P. McLean, assistant vice president, Wells Fargo Bank, Tigard.
Tara Sullivan INDUSTRY @Once has hired Mark Reed as interim chief executive officer. Reed is president of High Ground Partners.
Marsh USA has named Ron Bennett as a vice president and client executive in its construction and surety practice, and Mark Frinell as a client executive on its technology and telecommunications team. Bennett was at ConceroGroup.
Monique Allen has joined AssetExchange as vice president of communications. Allen was at Young & Roehr Group and Wave Rock Communications.
Dr. Richard Miller has joined Legacy Health System as the first medical director of the Legacy Heart Institute. Dr. Miller was at Mercy Heart Institute in Sacramento, Calif.
Wells Fargo has hired Nancy Clark as a human resource consultant and vice president. Clark was at The Estey Corp. and Rundel Products.
Davis Wright Tremaine has named John F. McGrory Jr. as chairman of its Portland litigation practice group, and Carol J. Bernick as chairwoman of its Portland employment law practice group.
Jay R. Chock has joined Dunn Carney as a partner in the firmís litigation practice group.
Banfield, The Pet Hospital, has added Dr. Jordan Kobilca to its Portland Walker Road hospital.
Alpha Engineering has added a new structural engineering team, naming Steve Entenman as manager, Doug Stewart, engineer, Shane Earp and Rick Siel, designers, and Carole Pedro, administrative coordinator.
